OTL Feature // Green Wedding Shoes - A San Francisco Upscale Supper

Here in San Francisco, we are just starting to feel and see the signs of Fall. Our Indian Summer has quietly slipped away, and "Karl the Fog" has returned. I've officially started wearing my boots + scarves! I love plaids, layers, spiked hot apple cider + collecting fallen leaves. Okay, let's be honest, I still love to stomp around in huge piles of crunchy leaves when I find them!
(Sorry, not sorry, to those who have to re-rake them :)

Before we lost those warm sunny evenings, we came together with some fabulous creatives to execute this Upscale Summer Supper dreamt up by our talented photographer, Kayla Fletcher, of Kayla F. Photography. Her vision for this styled shoot  began with a daydream of a berry cobbler cooked in a cast iron skillet. A perfect representation of the transition from Summer to Fall, right!?!?

She shared her vision with Rachel Silard, designer + planner of Ruby and Rose, Amanda of Amanda Vidmar Design, a local floral designer, and Brianne Connelly of Brown Fox Calligraphy, to develop the beautiful design you see here!

Some of my favorite details were the hops-ladden bistro chairs, the fresh plum place cards, our mini lounge (that included our Alessandro chairs and leather poufs), and the lovely table settings provided by Chairs and Cups. We also used a delicate gray table runner from Silk and Willow and other small details from CB2

We really lucked out with finding THE perfect garden location, one of our favorite San Francisco wedding venues, Stable Cafe in the Mission District! Is has the perfect mixture of old brick, cactus, and sunshine, for any intimate gathering.

With everything else in place, it was time for supper!!! We were joined by the very talented chef and team of LRE Catering, who provided an amazing meal, full of color and bursting with flavor! I can still taste the lightly roasted peaches in the salad, the hearty potatoes, and of course, that amazing Cobbler!!!

In my opinion, this is really what it's all about folks! Doing good work by providing amazing creative services to our clients in a way that fosters a sense of community over competition (hello, rising tiders!)...and of course, taking the time to honor and celebrate those relationships that are created along the way!

If you haven't taken the time to focus + foster the relationships around you, please do so! Now is the perfect time to gather over warm (adult) beverages, share a meal, reflect on the season, and focus on the "good stuff!"

For those who want a peek at what really happens on set, here's an image of me hard at work, holding up a screen for Kayla, as she tried to get the perfect shot of our table set up. Enjoy and have a great week!

A Quick "Hello!" From our new Creative Director

Hello friendors, fans + followers!

It has been pretty quiet over here on the blog for the last, well...three years...*gasp*...and we sure do have MUCH to catch up on, But...first things first!

I'd love to introduce myself!
My name is Ryanne Steele and I am the new Creative Director + Lead Designer of OTL! For those of you in the local San Francisco Bay Area wedding + special events industry, you may already know me as the owner of Steele My Heart, a wedding planning + hand lettering company.

"Hi everyone!!!"

For those of you I have yet to meet, I am thoroughly looking forward to meeting, connecting + creating some magic with all of you! I am thrilled for the opportunity + the honor of taking OTL on a new adventure! Our founder, Amanda, created something so special with her carefully curated collection, which consists mostly of French antiques + trinkets from her travels across the globe. It's truly amazing to be surrounded with so much history + beauty each day that I'm in our new warehouse!

The collection we have tells a story of where we came from, but I am excited to see how we can take our collection in new directions; mixing in more color + patterns, playing with textiles + textures, adding styles from various decades, letting inspiration from nature + a little modernity influence the collection.

I am also excited to take our collection on new adventures, literally! I am a California girl through and through, so I find my biggest inspiration from that magical place where the land meets the sea. I've just always felt a little tingle anytime I'm near the ocean (Have you read Blue Mind?) and want to take our rentals on as many road trips as possible, near or far! I'm a diehard road-tripper, and will almost always drop anything to pack a bag, hit the road + discover a new place! The thought of including a mini trailer full of our Lovelies (or finding a VW Van in sea foam green would be cool too, just sayin'), to capture their beauty, from the Big Sur coast, up to Lake Tahoe, and back down to Santa Barbara, then through the dessert to Palm Springs, over the Rocky Mountains and just get's me so excited!

With that said, I have so much more to share with you here on the blog over the next few weeks. I will be sharing a little bit more of the OTL story, and what's been happening since the beginning of the year. There's been huge galas, a celebrity wedding, we were published in print twice, delivered rentals to over 35 happy couples or clients, hired a new team, have had a handful of online features, sourced some new + exciting inventory...and that's the tip of the iceberg!

I am really looking forward to sharing this new OTL adventure with all of you, and I'm hoping to meet all of you awesome people one day soon!

Love + Light ~Ryanne

behind the scenes // the today show

We are so excited to announce that we were part of a surprise marriage proposal planned by The Yes Girls and filmed by The Today Show! It should be airing in the next week or two and we will definitely keep you all posted so that you can tune in!

In the meantime, here's a sneak peek at the set-up with our rentals! We were on the 40th floor overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the Marin Headlands. It was just beyond!

Check back soon for details about the air date!

When my wonderful friend, Melanie, told me she needed help nailing down the look and feel of her upcoming birthday party I jumped at the opportunity to help! Melanie wanted a look that was simple and easy to achieve. When I asked her what colors she wanted to see at her party she mentioned really liking pastels also the color grapefruit. My mind immediately went to a fun, summery palette of soft pinks + peaches paired with crisp citrus colors like tangerine + grapefruit. Since the party was being held at Hog Island Oyster Co. in Tomales Bay I wanted to incorporate navy blue to ground the bright, summery colors and give a nod to the location's nautical vibe. The Hog Island Oyster Co. sign also happens to be navy which made the pop of blue even more perfect!

Here's the board that I created for Melanie:

And here's the board brought to life by Melanie:

Didn't she do a great job of sourcing items + bringing the vision to life?  I was really proud of her! I don't know about you guys but my favorite parts of the table are the fabulous striped runner from Heath Ceramics and the florals by Natalie Bowen Designs!

You can see more from Melanie's birthday party over on Style Me Pretty Living

behind the scenes // jen huang shoot

This past weekend I finally got the chance to work with the amazingly talented Jen Huang. The airy, light-filled quality of her photography has always blown me away so it was an incredibly huge honor to have her photograph my styling work! I am counting the days until we get the photos back but in the meantime, I have some behind-the-scenes photos to tide me over :)

A big thanks goes out to our talented team of vendors: Natalie Bowen, who created floral magic once again, Melissa Hoffmann, whose hair + make-up skills are just beyond, Honeycomb Events, who did an outstanding job bringing my cake vision to life (the flowers looked SO REAL!!!), Kinsley James who provided the most stunning lace Liancarlo gown and our fabulous model Sarah Rose, who was such a champ even though she was freezing her behind off!

More to come soon!
